Save photos and videos to sdcard

Post by lalau » April 12th, 2018, 3:07 am

when I try to choose the directory of the sd card to save the photos and videos I get the message that I do not have permission (write_external_storage_permission)

please make an option that the user can save the photos and videos on the sd card

This seems to be a device specific issue.

I assume you are using a Huawei device? If not, could you post your device details?

I've had a similar report (via email), and the user was able to resolve this by using the Hauwei File Manager to select the SD Card which caused the permission to be granted to the application.

This doesn't seem to be an issue on the Samsung devices I have tested on.

if I choose a folder of the sd card it accepts, but fails to save the photos and videos, if I try to create a folder on the sd card, that message appears as shown in the image

I've done some research on this issue and it's a well known problem caused by the Android OS itself.

This is a very detailed post by Chainfire on what is causing this issue.
http://www.chainfire.eu/articles/113/Is ... o_SD_cards_/

After reading that post it makes sense why this is not an issue on Samsung devices, but all others... Since Samsung implemented a way around what Google thought was a good idea, when really it wasn't.

Unfortunately this isn't something I am able to fix, however you might be able to get around it by trying what was mentioned in that post - which was looking for other places that your SD Card could be mounted which allow write access.

Old thread but just thought I'd add, this is also an issue on the Samsung Note 8

Creating the folder structure works well.

If the dev is still looking for an app that can write to the SD Card to emulate, Piktures does it.
